Patches larger than 7″–8″ can be produced when appropriate. Contact SAMBLEMS for a custom quote if you need an unusually large PVC design.

Why Does the Price Per Patch Go Down When You Order More?

If you’ve ever wondered why ten patches can cost considerably more per piece than 500 or 1,000 patches, the answer is production efficiency.

Creating custom patches involves work that happens regardless of whether you’re producing a small or large batch.

Preparing artwork

Creating production files

Setting up equipment

Preparing materials

Production setup

Quality control

With a small order, those production costs are distributed across fewer pieces.

With a larger order, the same setup can be used to produce many more patches. As a result, the average production cost per patch decreases.

That's why quantity is one of the biggest factors affecting your per-piece price.

Patch Pricing_ Small vs Large Orders

What Factors Affect Custom Patch Pricing?

The tables above give you a useful starting point, but your exact price can depend on your design and specifications.

1. Patch Material

Embroidered, chenille, PVC, woven, leather and printed patches require different materials and production processes. Choosing the right material is therefore one of the first things that affects your quote.

2. Finished Size

A larger patch generally requires more material and production resources than a smaller patch. A 3-inch hat patch and a 12-inch jacket patch are therefore priced differently.

3. Quantity

Quantity has a major effect on the cost per patch. As the order quantity increases, the unit price generally decreases.

4. Artwork Complexity

A simple logo with a few bold shapes can be easier to produce than highly detailed artwork. Complex designs may require additional artwork preparation and production work.

5. Number of Colors

For embroidered and woven patches, the number of thread colors can influence production requirements. For printed patches, complex artwork may involve more demanding artwork preparation.

6. Backing

Your choice of backing can also affect the final cost. Common options include: Sew-on Iron-on Hook and loop / Velcro Adhesive Other specialty backing options If you're unsure which backing is right for your application, tell us how you intend to use the patch and we'll help you choose.

7. Turnaround

Standard production and rush production can have different costs. If you have a specific deadline, let us know before placing the order so we can determine whether the requested timeline is achievable.

Our pricing guide begins at 10 pieces for easy comparison. If you need a smaller quantity, contact SAMBLEMS and we'll let you know what options are available for your particular design.

The prices in the tables above are per patch.

For example, 100 embroidered 3" patches at $2.50 each would have a product total of $250 before any applicable additional charges.

A larger patch uses more material and requires a larger production area. The additional production requirements are reflected in the per-piece price.

Printed and sublimated patches are often a strong choice for highly detailed, colorful artwork, especially when the design contains gradients or visual details that don't translate easily into thread.

Woven patches can also reproduce relatively fine details and small lettering.

Embroidered and woven patches are both popular choices for uniforms. The best option depends on the appearance, level of detail and application requirements.

PVC patches are a popular choice for tactical equipment, especially when a rugged, dimensional appearance is desired. Hook-and-loop backing can also be useful when patches need to be removed or changed.

Rush production may be available depending on your deadline, artwork and current production capacity. Contact us before ordering if you have a specific date that your patches need to be ready by.

Find the Right Custom Patch for Your Budget

The cheapest patch isn’t always the best patch.

The right choice depends on what you’re trying to achieve.

If you want a classic textured design, embroidered patches are a proven choice.

If you want a premium varsity look, choose chenille.

If your artwork is highly detailed or colorful, consider printed or sublimated patches.

For rugged applications, PVC is worth considering.

For a premium branded appearance, leather patches can make an excellent choice.

And when you need detailed textile artwork with a smooth finish, woven patches are an excellent option.

Whatever your budget or application, SAMBLEMS can help you compare the options.
